Batteries not included? What is a battery? What is a charger? What is going on?!

I recently invested in a vape for £30.  This is one of the best inventions I've seen in a while and nobody even cares.  They do think a big chuck of metal guzzling gas is a great invention though!

Would you like to generate instant steam, at any point by sucking on a computer?

It's not steam it's vapour!  Oh ok genius, what's the difference then?

Steam is generated from hot water

where do you think vapour comes from? Hot breath??!!

It does in the cold weather!

Yesterday I stood under a boiler flue and watched the steam or vapour coming out from what I imagine is a big boiler heating a theatre.  If you stand under it with a vape you can deliver more steam or vapour within seconds of sucking on a computer!  Does this make sense?  The more you think about it the more it does start to make sense.  I suppose the boiler is using the energy to heat a larger amount of water and it's only getting the water hot enough to generate a little bit of steam or vapour.  However the vape in my pocket all day long is heating a tiny bit of water, or liquid or acid :/ and heating it to the point of generating much more steam that is coming out of a boiler that I wouldn't be allowed to go near without a certificate.  Does this make sense?  Essentially in terms of safety the exact same thing is happening but one is in a locked cabinet and one is in my pocket!

A vape will also last for weeks.  Ready to provide you with instant steam which means it's constantly heating up that liquid in your pocket before you suck on it.  Is that a problem?  It doesn't appear to be hot to the touch and seems safe enough however do they want us to really notice this and think about it?  When you do you start to notice more about what is happening which you don't get from the instructions you notice that the vape is using 22watts of power to heat up that water.  I will now digress onto my latest purchase of a mobile phone, which by the way is another shit invention.

Mobile phones - how can they be so bad!

I recently purchased a brand new mobile from the three shop in Taunton and I've been on a bit of an emotional journey with it in more ways than one and can understand why there are normally at least 3 phone accessory shops on every high street full of confused looking new phone owners!

This is the phone I purchased which by all accounts is pretty cheap compared to the others.

It does everything at an acceptable level when you compare it to the really expensive ones so what are people really paying for with the expensive ones?  That's possibly another blog post for another time but it does make you wonder.

In the good old days you used to be able to take the back off of the phone pretty easily and remove or replace the battery.  This was quite handy because you could replace it at a small cost and keep your phone for longer.  You can't do that anymore and I can't think of a good reason for that other than wanting to sell more phones.  If you say that to them in the shop they will just likely agree with you and ask you to commit to a monthly payment plan at the same time!

The other thing that happens is you don't get a proper charger to charge the battery that you can't access anymore.  You just get a cable which by all accounts is half of a charger.  What do you plug the cable into?  well they leave that for you to work out all on your own!  They don't even sell plugs in the three store!  To start with I was plugging it into a computer USB port to charge it while I was at the library which was ridiculously slow.  I'm told this phone has FAST Charging which is a new feature all the new phones are boasting about to make more sales.  So I thought why is it charging so slow?  My instant assumption was that a USB port on a computer is likely only giving out 2-5watts of power and I probably need something more powerful like a proper USB charger.  I asked the library staff if they had anything in lost property and they had 2 chargers, one bigger than the other but they both seemed to be no better than the USB charger on the computer!

Thinking about this some more I remembered that old phones did used to take ages to charge and we didn't know any different.  These new phones will charge a bigger battery much quicker but you do need a charger that will output at 20w.  So I went on a hunt and eventually found what I needed but it's not really what I wanted at all.  Another bit of irrelevant kit to just annoy me that I need to carry around.  At this point I started to think about the vape I'm carrying around that is producing 22w of power.  I should be able to charge my phone with this shouldn't I?  In fact I should be able to tell it to stop heating the coil up and use all the power for only charging my phone battery.  Then it should have another connection on it so I can charge the vape and the phone at the same time.  This really wouldn't be that difficult to achieve but in this world it doesn't seem to happen.

After a while you reach a point where you start to think is this whole thing just an illusion to keep us busy, keep us buying products and keep us feeling like everything is shit?  I think it possibly is.  How good could a vape or phone or camera or torch etc really be and could it all be the same tiny device projecting images wherever you would like to?  I believe this is definitely possible but I can't really prove it.  I'm not in the right clubs and likely never will be.  Why not you say? You seem clever enough.  Well the simple way to answer that is to say that I don't like to abuse children and I don't like to take advantage of others for financial gain.  I think I've said all I need to say about this subject and should leave it there before NASSA start harassing me over AI again!
